A new media for Christmas

Can you believe there is still media I haven't tried?

I love trying new media and I have many different watercolor sets including watercolor pencils. I have love acrylic a lot though as it is easier to fix mistakes and adjust things quicker since it dries rather quickly. So let's experience gouache!

It's pronounced "gwash"

It feels so fancy as the Winsor & Newton set comes in such tiny little tubes and I feel I must not be wasteful because of it. So I got a bottle of blending medium to help extend the paint and also got some Aquapasto to help make it more like the acrylic paint I know and love.

Went with an image found on Pinterest of a black cat wearing a scarf in front of a beach scene. I can only hope that the photo is not AI but either way, I made the photo mine by painting it in my own style.

All in all

I can't say it's my favorite new media. It seems nothing can beat acrylic or pencil. I have to say it reminds me of when I tried to mess with water mixable oil paints. Those were fun as they blended and blended and didn't dry for days. I don't think I know how to use media that takes forever to dry as well as I do with acrylic and pencil. Still, the watercolor aspect of it is fun to play with along with needing to practice with it without using the Aquapasto still. So who knows what I will do with it as time goes on!

BY THE WAY

What should I talk about sooner than later?

  • My semester painting ideas

  • My Halloween costumes

  • Book making
